Description

Fifty miles inland from the beach and fifty five years from high school days, on a warm summer night in July 2014, Joey Geinice was approached by a national music event promoter to "round up three exceptionally talented musicians to perform at a three day musical festival and car show to be held at the Marriott Hotel in Riverside, California."

The promoter was aware that back in the early sixties, Joey's high school band The Showmen were recording and playing music shortly before the days surf music became the trend of the day.

In the early sixties you would find Joey and His Showmen performing at places like the Island A Go Go on the Colorado River in Parker, Arizona, or near home at the San Bernardino Municipal Auditorium, Riverside Armory as well at a myriad of high school gyms.

While entering high school, Joey perfected his staccato type playing style under the direction of long time friend Dick Dale, then later, upon return from military service in Asia in 1971, as a Del Tone at Dick Dales club located in Riverside.

The present day Showmen consists of long time collaborator and Nuevo's own Mike Serna on the bass.

On second guitar is the perfectionist, Lexus's former long time manager Steve Caruso, who began his music career playing surf tunes that Joey was recording ten years earlier.

Last, but definitely not least Joey found the extremely talented percussionist Bobby Caldarella, the Italian Stallion imported all the way from the Right Coast in Brooklyn, New York.

When combining all four of these very talented musicians, they set out to deliver exactly what the promoter demanded: an accelerated rhythm sound that will give the audience a glimpse of the kick-back California life style of the late fifties and early sixties.

You don't have to take our word for it; just put on your Pendelton, slip into your white Levi's and white socks, penny loafers, grab a Pepsi and chips, put this disc on your turntable and let the song take you back to those lazy days of summer.
