Through the encouragement of Linda McCartney's (nee Eastman) father and his attorney Lee Eastman, Jack Lawrence composed 'Linda' in 1942 but it waited until Linda was 5 and the Second World War was over before being published and recorded by Buddy Clark with Ray Noble's orchestra in November 1946. It spent 13 weeks on the charts getting to number one. The opening photo in the clip shows a possibly five year old Linda holding the newly published sheet music with her father playing the piano. Linda eventually had a very successful marriage with Paul McCartney of the Beatles. The song was Buddy Clark's biggest hit before he died in a plane crash in 1949. The song was later recorded by Frank Sinatra, Perry Como and Jim Reeves et al. Perry Como's arrangement from his album 'Como Swings' (song recorded May 21, 1959) with the Mitchell Ayres Orchestra is used for this clip with the backing track privately commissioned from London Arrangements by the singer Michael Whittaker.
