First US-Russia leader meet since 2021 lands in Alaska, reactions mixed from Moscow to Kyiv

As Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump prepare to meet in Alaska on Friday, reactions from Moscow to Kyiv are mixed.

Trump Wednesday warned of "severe consequences" if Moscow did not agree to his peace deal. The summit comes as Ukraine warns that a meeting without Kyiv risks deals made at its expense.

This will be the first face-to-face meeting between US and Russian leaders since June 2021 and Putin’s first-ever visit to Alaska. Kremlin spokesperson said the location was "quite logical" as the Russian delegation need only fly 86 kilometers across the Bering Strait to reach US soil.
